From Monday
Out at the lake...
Looking out of the "hole in the wall"
Cottonwood Creek

Is that the pull out on top of the hill overlooking Homer?

They are all taken on Skilak Lake between Sterling and Cooper Landing. I grew up out there. The lake is surrounded by federal wildlife refuge. Not much boat traffic, lot's of critters, morrell mushroom picking is good, raspberry picking is good, fishing is good at the mouths of both rivers, great snowmachine country, and there is actually one island that was homesteaded in 1920 that has property available for public ownership. Skilak glacier dumps into it but it has melted back around a corner and can no longer be seen from the lake. Lot's of rock climbing, cormorant and gull rookeries. I never get tired of cruising the lake and sightseeing. It can get rougher than a cob...but for the most part it is flat mirror calm.

Rance, your first lake pic looks a lot like parts of the inland passage.
