Wandering Mind will become famous soon enoughWandering Mind will become famous soon enough
i actually live in a town of around 25k down here, i have my whole life, has quite a bit of stuff.

the farthest we went inland was from skagway, rode train to fraser, bc. was early may (was actually the first cruise of the season, and still got to see some of the snow in juneau) and snow was piled really high, and still coming down hard. but i do agree we didnt see much, but what i saw, i loved. i mainly went on vacations with my family (we travel a lot), so during ideas, i popped up the idea of seeing interior alaska. alas, they believe alaska is always freezing cold and they love the hot/humid stuff. not to say they didnt enjoy it, but it didnt sound like returning was in their very interested list.

im not writing off the bush completely, im just thinking im not ready for it. same with somewhere like fairbanks, where i live its very rare for temperatures to go below 10 above. like tomorrow the temps are suppose to be 30/12 and thats extremely cold here. i dont really think so, but eh. so i was considering somewhere around anchorage (i dont like city living at all, so ive no intention of living right in anchorage). i was mainly thinking the road system cause, like when i need to go to a diff town, im most comfortable when driving, flying still freaks me out despite many times doing it...ferrys are alright tho, but you know. so itd be a big enough change by itself, i think itd be better to adjust first.

and ty

Yeah, I hear you.
Little vocab lesson, though- "bush" does not mean off the road system. One would not refer to pretty much anywhere in Southeast as in the bush.
Generally when we talk about the bush we are talking about the really remote native villages (and slightly larger towns like Bethel that still have a large native population but also lots of others) in the "flat" parts of Alaska.

Thats cool! I didn't know you could drive right next to the Airport. That would be a good vantage place to take pictures of planes landing.

There's a fence, but you can take pictures through it. If you come at the right time, the planes land right over you... it's very, very cool.

It's better to come in the summer to do that- more people out and flying. JNU actually has two airstrips- one concrete and one water for floatplanes. Right now that one's frozen over so there's nothing in it, but you can see it in the fourth photo down. Also lots of helicopters out doing helitours during the summa'.

Yeah, it's been pretty warm lately (in the 40 degree area) then the temperature dropped about 20 degrees last night, I imagine that's what caused the hoarfrost. It is a neat shot, though.
