Went out today just as the clouds were coming in, though still a great day.

Eagle munching on a moose carcass.

Flying away

Trail out in the Kepler-Bradley Lakes area, with my dogs

End of Long Lake

At the end of the trail, view from Matanuska Experiment Farm

Just finish the drive to Delta or if you're going in the other direction, go on to Glennallen. Unless they've improved in the last year or two.
I used to stop at the Paxon Lodge on my way to Chitina and back years ago (in the '80s). The food was good then. A very nice breakfast was served at the Chatanika Lodge a few years back (big omelet), but i haven't gone to eat there for a few years. Also, on the way to Anchorage, before you get to Nenana, the Monderosa had some good fast foods (hamburgers) not too long ago. The best ice cream (chocolate/peanut butter) was served at the Knotty Shop near Salcha a few years ago (before the place was sold-out). Now I see a lot of Chinese-made stuff in there, which was not the case with the previous owner.

Now, fuel is cheaper at the gas station as you leave Delta Junction down the Richardson, toward Ft. Greely. Too expensive at Glennalen, so I never buy there.

I was planning on driving down to Summit Lake, but as I neared Black rapids, it was snowing, so I turned around. I saw several moose moving across the road, but they didn't stand long enough by the road for me to take pictures.

Nephler,

The flying eagle photo looks great!

Default Great Pics

WOW! Thank you guys the pictures are really amazing.
I love coming on here and learing/seeing all about the state that will soon be my new home.

Only 20 more days before I leave Oregon to drive to Homer and catch a ferry to Kodiak. I haven't seen my Hubby since Jan.

Thanks again for sharing, I can't wait to start snaping pics myself.

If it didn't have the white plumage, I would swear it was a golden, it was that big, and I mean huge.

Had another nice day at the lake just riding.
Beach full of drift wood. Should be some great door handles and walking sticks in here.

Looking east up the Skilak River toward the glacier.

Looking west across upper Skilak and a pressure ridge.

My buddy "Mush" jumping the pressure ridge.

Doroshin Bay cabin. Originally built in the 50's by a local homesteader. Used to be a gold mine in the area. A great place to eat hotdogs and sip blackberry brandy.

Wolf tracks on the lake.

Lonely little tree on a rock.
