Hey guys (and girls) nice photos. I need some help. I have a point and shoot camera but am looking to get a nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens. Do you have any other suggestions for a someone just starting out? I am lost as a fart in a whirlwind when i look at the computers online or in the store.

Other suggestions? THat's a can of worms! Most people in this section have Nikon or Canon. I have Olympus. I'd suggest reading reviews then asking friends with cameras, that you have an interest in, if they can give you advice & perhaps let you take some shots.

This is the best i was able to do on my last trip to alaska but i am wanting to do a little better next year but i need to buy a camera this year to pratice with for the next trip.
