And she's got reason to be!
How come your wife's dog is not also your dog?

Oh, she is mine, too A couple of years ago we had to put our dog down, and my wife was devastated. I arranged with a person I know at a local animal shelter to bring "Abbie" (the dog in the photo), to our home for my wife to meet, and she liked her right away. She still cries over the old dog, but this has has brought a big smile to her face. My wife tells me, "Abbie is your baby, and you know it," and I tell her the same.

Don't know of any "Guides" per say, the term is used mostly for people that want to go hunting and state law requires them to have a Registered Guide with them.
There are tour companies that do take you out on trips with groups of other people as a type of "Guided tour".
The best thing to do is ask questions of what you want to see and people can help you out by pointing you in the right direction. Or you can get a Alaska Milepost and read though it and go where you like what you read there.

Which part of the state will you be in? I know plenty of folks that can show you around the peninsula that time of year.

She has a little Rottweiler in her, but her temperament and looks are Lab. Well, she is kind of short-legged, but quite friendly.

That picture speaks a thousand words. The dog is friendly, aware of everything around. In good health for sure.

She looks abused, petted way too much, forced to sleep on a bed, fed too well instead of forging food in the wild and way too contented for something from the wolf family...
I think she is handling it well though

Yes, she is a little spoiled. We do feed her her food, but a small portion of it could be salmon, or canned Skipper's herring, sardines, and so forth. If I am grilling steaks or maybe hamburgers, then one (without spices or onion) is for her. Since our kids have grown-up, the is the little princess in the house. She also loves carrots, mashed potatoes, and lettuce.
Funny that you mentioned wolves: sometimes I howl like a wolf, and she gets a tiny bit scared. I can see it in her eyes, and then I stop. I would like to train her to howl at the fire engine when they drive by, but she doesn't want to do it. But at least she can open doors by turning the door handles, and she can scape from the dog kennel. We tried two kennels, but she escaped several times from each. We figured that she can unlock the door half way, and then rip the door inward. She did it about four or five times when left alone in the house (inside the kennel). She was less than two years old then, so we decided to let her loose from that point on. She chewed a flower basket and a small section of the handrail on the steps, but by the time she was two she stopped chewing things, and now she is a little angel when left alone at home. We leave water in her bowl, but she doesn't drink it until we come home, since she doesn't want to pee inside the house. The dog behaves almost like a human being
