There were a couple huge towering cumulonimbus clouds out there. One seemed to fill the windscreen on our climb out over downtown Anchorage.

Fernando Menghi is on a distinguished road
Dear Rance:

I am looking for a local, preferably a college aged kid who could show me around--watering holes for animals, fauna, etc. I would especially like to see brown bear. SInce you know of many people, the one that you think would be the most knowledgable--Denali? whereever.

SOrry for the brevity. In a hurry, got to go.

Thanks,

Fernando

Mainly just bigger. Although the first plane to fly through a hurricane was a T-6 Texan, which is about the size of a 172 only beefier.

They used to use P-2 Orion's which was based on the Electra. If you have ever flown in one (Reeve Aleutian Airways) you know the wings rocked. I can't imagine flying in one of those through a hurricane. NOAA now use C-130's, P-3 Orion's and Gulfstream jets for the flights.

Great photo Nephler!
Love it when you can see the rain bands coming in with the sun shining
over the mountains in the distance.

Awesome picture! And by awesome I mean totally awesome! I didn't get to see any lighting but the thunder was nice to hear again.
I got the lawn mowed and we had a good hour of heavy rain. So the garden and all is watered. Man it was dry when I got home.

Nephler...that picture is now my new desktop at work. It replaced Rance's great volcano shot he took a month or two ago. Sorry Rance.
