Tonight is the night. Yes they were out at midnight. But I was to tired to go shooting. Tonight I will.
If you guys head out of town...you should be able to see them say from 11:00 pm to 3 or 4 am looking to the north, northwest. Try to get away from any street lights or porch lights. Will be light green for the most part.

Your carhartt mug reminds me of a pint of Guinness.

Just thought that I would add a couple myself. This is the Kenai Peninsula and Hidden Lake.

I never thought of it before, but it does look like a pint. I looks like I'm raising a pint to the ocean. But in real life I was on my way to work, and that was just some very strong tea.

Thanks. Wow, everyone has such beautiful pictures of Alaska. They are great, and really capture what Alaska is. Good job to all.

Snowy Owls, and an exciting day...
I've been having some extremely interesting days lately... Yesterday breakfast was at Pepe's North of the Border Mexican Restaurant with two really interesting people. Zac Nicholson is a Filmmaker... He's in Barrow researching some great ideas he has about a future documentary. Bill Hess, who is one of less than a dozen photograpers on my list of "most admired", a former Barrow resident who published "Gift of the Whale" documenting Inupiat whaling in the 1980's, was on his way to do a project in another North Slope village.
Zac's latest work is at LUCKY SEVENS, a short film by Poe St. Films - home.
Bill's work can be seen at Gift of the Whale by Bill Hess - The Digital Journalist.
Talk about a way to be inspired about photography!
In the afternoon Zac and I went looking for something to do... And I had my first Nikon D300 hands on experience checking out Zac's camera. He came traveling light, and was very happy to have a chance to put some long focal length lenses on the D300.
This is a shot of a Snowy Owl that I took with the D300 using an 800mm lense with a 1.6 telextender (35mm format equivalent to 1920mm focal length).
The next one is the same owl, shot with a D3 using a 400mm lens.
