Like the snow cover houses pictures. But wow that is a lot of snow and looks dangerous to have that much on the roofs. That looked like and all day snow shoveling day. How much snow do you get that day Tigre

Buildings here are built to withstand much higher loads than most places, as you might imagine, and you can get current snow load estimates from the National Weather Service to determine when you need to remove excess snow. Sometimes people don't do it when they should, and it's not uncommon for a few boats and buildings to be lost or damaged each year as a result. Shoveling only took a few hours with me, my boyfriend, his brother, and one of the neighborhood kids helping out. There were two other kids supposedly helping, but they mostly exercised their jaw muscles.

Beautiful day out yesterday, so I went for a hike out to the beach.

The trailhead

The tide flats and Mount Thomas, at the head of the bay

Looking back toward town: West Peak, East Peak, and Hogback Mountain

I love your pics Tigre.. the mountain with the moon is the best.. exercise indeed. I'm glad I'm not shoveling my roof this year but I do miss having the snow.. everything is so brown here. I was going to try snow shoeing this year but that plan is gone.. next year in Alaska I will have plenty of opportunity right??... enjoy your Thursday
