I am not an expert on this. But I believe that face to face gun transactions between individuals in Alaska is legal between US citizens.

I imagine that if you knew the other person intended to commit a crime with it you would be an accessory to that crime but otherwise it's legal.

However, like I said. I'm not an expert so check the law yourself.

Jo Dan,
There are thousands upon thousands of various gun laws on the books. Alaska is a unique situation because IF you do buy a gun in Alaska and want to take it back to the lower 48 you will be facing the problem of getting it across Canada. Long guns do not pose as MUCH of a problem but there is only one way of getting a handgun across Canada legally.

Here is the website of the NRA/ILA. You will find the answer to almost any gun questions you might have on their website.

Not legally.

That's an "interstate transfer", and is regulated by BATFE.

Legal face to face requires that the transfer occur in the state that both parties legally reside, and that the the seller has no reason to believe that the buyer is a prohibited person (felon, involuntarily committed to a mental institution, subject of a DV restraining order, etc.).

What ever state your drivers license is from is where yo can buy a gun unlees you are a dealer. Now if going up hunting or to live and ship firearms there are legal ways to do that.

Could you explain how?

Because the same Federal regulations still apply to anyone selling a firearm at a Gun Show, as applies to them selling a firearm away from the Gun Show. There is no exclusion clause in any Federal Regs on how firearm transfers are performed at gun shows.

i.e. If your a dealer, you need the same paperwork and background check and all other federal or state requirements as you would need to follow in your own store. Private sellers and buyers need to fulfill the same requirements as they would in a regular face to face sale.

In simpler words, there is NO loophole, there never has been. It's a lie and a misunderstanding that originates and continues from people who either do not understand the current regulations, or who do understand the regulations but they have an agenda regarding the public ownership of firearms (and who would like tighter restrictions).

Yes even at Gun Shows holders of FFLs have to use the ATF Form 4473(?) to document all sales but private sales are allowed without filling out forms. Again there will be various state and local laws for Private Treaty transactions at gun shows. In some states the laws are very lenient for gun Show transactions.
