Default Copper Center

I've applied for a job in Copper Center. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about this community? I know that the population is under 400, and that it is just outside a national park. How would one go about finding housing here? Is fresh produce available? Could my Plymouth Neon survive an Alaskan winter? Thanks so much!

Well I can answer the car question. Yes. We have them all over up here in Fairbanks. They don't like moose encounters though! I have seen several over the years that have been squished by either moose or hitting larger vehicles.

Copper Center is about 20-30 minutes from Glennallen, the nearest town of any size and about 1-1/2 - 2 hours from Valdez. The National Park is Wrangell-St. Elias, I believe the largest National Park. It gets to -50 at times and averages around -20 in the winter months.

Copper Center is home to the Kluti-Kaah Alaskan native tribe, and around 50% of the population are native Alaskans. Located about 20 miles south of Glennallen on the Old Richardson Highway. As far as housing is concerned, check out the following URL:

Community Database Online - Copper Center Housing Characteristics

You may be better off finding some place to stay in Glennallen and commuting.
