I'm going to get the milepost for sure but I was hoping for some first hand info.
I don't think the hub needs to be hanging out at the bar and especially NOT a strip club.

Well the airposrt is undergoing a major upgrade so things may be a bit different. I have never tried to see if they have wifi, but expect they will have when the new terminal is complete.

The airport sits out by itself so a cab ride would be required, though I think the bus heads out there occasionally.

When the time gets closer for you folks to leave and or fly send me a DM. I would like to meet you folks and possibly can keep hubby out of too much trouble before you arrive.
Only the best establishments...... LOL...

Well University Center mall was demolished this year, and a new safeway was built, along with a video store, some cell phone outlets and a Pappa Murphies pizza place. Fred Meyers is accross the street. There is a resturant bar called Brewsters with great burgers and atmosphere north of the road. Only like 3 miles from the airport. The strip club is closer but I wont tell where....... LOL

Hubby can walk around Freds and get sticker shock while waiting for you to pull up, they are open till 11 and midnight in the summer. Taco bell is in the parking lot if he gets desperate. Quznos in accorss the road near the same mall as Brewsters.

Megensmom:

I wish you the best success in your move and life in Alaska.

I don't live in Alaska but I know when I first moved into my own place what an ordeal that was for me.

You're doing a very very good job of preplanning, research and gathering information which is the BEST thing you CAN do.

I think so...the old Safeway definitely needed updating. When you say "mall" and Fairbanks, you shouldn't necessarily equate it with malls in the normal sense of the word.

megensmom (and family), I want to wish you the best and say that, out of all the people out there, there may be some negative ones but they're a minority and I hope you don't ever let them drag you down. Sometimes people are negative because you do something they would never dare try. You're in my thoughts and I hope to see more posts from you and be able to follow your lifeadventure in Central, Alaska.
