To my special friend thank you so very much for what you did. It is so nice to see that there is still kindness in the world today between people who are total strangers.

Have you decided on a route yet?
Looks like you were in the thick of the Thunderstorms yesterday, any close calls? |

You can take this route, it takes you through Regina Saskatchewan. The highway is very nice from there to Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

We had some pretty awsome winds nothing really scary not like we had just a few short nights ago though.
We will be leaving from the Bellingham,Washington area and then heading up Canadian Hwy.1 up to the Whitehorse area and up that way. |

Just found this thread. Megensmom, I wish you and your family the best of luck, not only on the move but on your new life. I really don't think I could do what you and your family are doing. You have a great blog and I look forward to reading about your trip and new life.

Oh, cool. That is a nice drive up from Bellingham. When you get to Hope BC, keep an eye out on the road signs to see if Highway 1 is open. This goes through Fraser River Valley. It is a very nice drive in the summer, I've done it in the winter, too. They do a good job of keeping it open. Just pay attention to the electronic signs outside of Hope. There are a lot of pull-outs along this stretch of highway. Once you get up to Lyton the highway mellows out a bunch and it is a nice drive up to Spences Bridge and Cache Creek. From Cache Creek you get into the beautiful pine trees and wildlife. There are a lot of deer on this road at night from Cache Creek north, keep an eye out for them at night. Plenty of hotels/motels on Highway 1, too. Restaurants in the middle of nowhere have great food, thats another thing to keep in mind. If Highway 1 north from Hope is closed you have to head up to Kamloops. There is a toll road here, make sure you have some Canadian money on you for that. I forgot how much it costs to pass through that area. If you can bypass Prince George, go for it. This is a crazy place to drive through, especially during rush hour. It is the last place for Starbucks, too.
This is just south of Hope, you can see the electronic sign in front of the white boxvan, keep and eye on those to see if Highway 1 is open ![]() This is near Spences Bridge/Cache Creek. ![]() I need to dig around for more Highway 1 photos. |

Oh thanks for that very very valuable tip. I will make sure to make note of it. I was going to grab a little Canadian cash just in case we needed it for something. Oh and thanks about the Starbucks tip I may need a blended white chocolate peppermint mocha before I head up for sure.
