Ted was charged with violating the Lacey Act Ted Nugent Illegally Killed Bear in Alaska for His Reality Show | Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/24/tagblogsfindlawcom2012-celebrityjustice-idUS160390096520120424 - broken link) which is over 100 years old. So how he can claim the judge never heard of such a law and that he's the first to be charged under this bizarre regulation is beyond me.

What gets me on this whole thing is. They had top end video equipment and you think they would of seen, the possible hit of the bear and then go check for it. I am still trying to hunt down a tape, I don't know if it is for sale or just on TV.

Thanks, RJ. I think that Mr. Thompson was wrong when he said it's not a widely known law, and he failed to address how the guides, at least, should have known the law even if Nugent didn't. Bear guides don't come cheap, and they've got a responsibility to their clients that clearly wasn't met here. I suspect that they knew and just let it pass.

It's rather silly that some keep trying to make it seem as if Nugent simply missed. The animal was wounded; again, there was blood on the scene.

Thanks, CC, for the links to various hunting forums where people who know something about hunting in AK are discussing the issue. It rather negates the blaring that millions of people on hunting forums all over are going to somehow effect change in hunting regs.

I would hate to see even one square inch of the Tongass pander to Outside interests to the extent that the safety of the citizens would be compromised. And I'm glad that AK is still a place where where so-called celebrities have no special rights whatsoever.

Ross admitted that there was blood on the ground where the bear was struck. They did check for it, they saw it, and they continued hunting. I think it's a case of a people believing that they are above the law and thinking that because the small island in question in uninhabited, that it was okay to leave a wounded bear.

I'd have a lot more respect for Nugent if he'd just admit it stop whining.
