I think it's horrible---he's spaced out on drugs. However, good on LE lately, they've been making several significant busts.

I don't think it's funny either. We had a naked guy running around down here a few days ago. Everyone laughed. Woo hoo. Funny. He murdered his best friend that night. Most likely he was hopped up on meth.

Meth is a nasty nasty problem...

Sounds like excited delirium to me. Although without being there I would not know for sure.

Maybe because it is cooler up there, they have a better survival rate, but down here by the time they are so messed up they are running around naked, they do not survive themselves. excited delirium is 99% of the time fatal if not treated. They need immediate medical attention - so you should call 911 ASAP - so that they can get it. Youight just save a life (theirs and anyone that gets close to them) They do not usually go voluntarily and get very violent so would not approach them. They strip because their body temp hits about 108f and are trying to cool off. By the time you see this it is typically too late to reason with them...

As much as you are laughing, I am not. It is something very serious and dangerous occurring right before your eyes. This used to be called cocaine pyschosis until doctors realized cocaine was not the only cause of it.

Thank you Dakster, that is excellent information. I've been wondering. My daughter lives in downtown KTN and I see these boys---they really are boys---walking around laughing at and talking to nothing and I've been wondering what they were on. It's heartbreaking. Kids who haven't always been bad and could have had a future and I'm afraid we've lost them.

No humor. I know the Orr family. Good people. Just growing up there can be hard on kids. Meth is a big problem. Back in the end of Herring Cove is an old cabin. That's where we did tours for the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary. The cabin is visible from the elevated boardwalk. We were supposed to tell the tourists it was an old trappers cabin. It was really a makeshift lab where they cooked meth.

It really disturbs me to learn that Meth is making or has made it big time to AK.

Other signs that people are on Meth are: They never sleep, the take things apart for no reason and never put it back, and their teeth rot out. Also, their appearance will drastically change over a short period of time. They will look very old and run down fairly quickly. (google many faces of meth for examples) What you are observing could be called 'tweaking'...

The other public health issue nightmare with meth is that the labs are easy to setup, the ingredients can be obtained over the counter at most stores, AND the place the lab is in becomes a hazardous waste site... If they don't blow themselves and the neighborhood up, they expose people to toxic airborne chemicals. People are getting sick in hotel rooms that were used as temporary meth labs because the walls absorb the toxic chemicals and they continue to release them.

Not that I am happy to see someone destroy their life, but it it really irks me to see them destroy other innocent lives.

The only thing I can thank the local cocaine 'mafia' down here, is that for now they have kept Meth out of here. Meth makes crack cocaine look like sugar...

I hope this man was brought to the emergency room.
This sort of behavior is far from rare. At my lab, at about four in the afternoon the orders start coming in from the ER for drug screens, blood alcohol levels, liver disease panels. Often I have to go and draw blood from these people and I've gotta be honest- if you really had to meet them you would not think it was remotely funny.
The name Orr is familiar, I think I know someone with that name. How sad.

The name is familiar to me as well.

I think that it speaks to a person's character (or lack of one) that they would find humor in this.
