Default Someone compare these two settlements

Can someone please give a breakdown on the differences between Honolulu, HI and Ancorage, AK. Which has a better standard of living? How does the nightlife compare?

Oh wow.. apples and oranges!

I live in Anchorage.. but just about everyone here takes advantages of LOTS of non-stop flights to the Hawaiin Islands because there's so many travel deals from here to there!

The standard of living would have to depend on what you're looking for.

Just from my personal experience in visiting the islands, I'd make a guess-ta-mate that it costs more to buy a home in Hawaii (especially with a view or anywhere near the ocean!) - - - but then again - - Anchorage isn't exactly cheap either.

I wouldn't even try to tell you which location has a better standing of living because both places are so very different and a lot depends on YOU yourself and what type of lifestyle you prefer.

The municipal of Anchorage's website has quite a bit of info (stats, etc.) on the city here if you search around it.. http://www.ci.anchorage.ak.us/homepage/index.cfm .. and I'm sure Honolulu must have a similar type of website?

In the fact that Alaska and Hawaii both deal with higher shipping costs because they're not in the contiguous 48-states, we can both relate to that inconvienance.

But other than that.... apples and oranges!
