Just a curiosity, but... while in Alaska several years ago, the subject of a large antropoid with hairy feet came up in several differing locations. I really have no way of knowing if these folk spreading such tales were native to "the Great Land" or not, but a lot of the people told stories about said creature, actually creatures, consensus was that there definitely were more than one and they were not a myth. The same town name showed up in the conversation more than once, and I, somewhat stricken with tequila induced brain damage - another souvenier of an ill-spent youth, promptly forgot the name of that town. Another possibility, actually several, but only one will I delve into at this juncture, ----They were yankin' my chain. Could someone shed some light on this for me please? Thanks. Dusty
Sorry about the lead in, it should read Non-conventional, didn't see it til I posted and don't know how to change it, probably something simple..... |

Are you talking about large hairy legged arthropods? 'Cause we have lots of them, only we call them mosquitoes. Some people call them our state bird.

wow, feathered mosquitos, I guess it only seems reasonable that they would have evolved in Alaska. So many billions interbreeding, it was bound to happen.

Not feathered, furry. Feathered mosquitoes...? That'd be the seagulls, or maybe the ravens.
The first time I traveled in a ferry I was sure the seagulls were going to carry my baby sister off. They apparently much bigger offshore, or maybe you don't pay much attention to them until they're a foot from you and eyeing your sister. The "McDonald's Ravens" are big buggers too. Birds don't generally scare me... except lovebirds. Man, those things bite! |

There are quite a few species of Chelicerates, Hexapods, and Crustaceans that have "hairy feet", and they are not limited to just Alaska. |

Excuse me, I mispelled the word, my fingers, oftimes, work more quickly than my brain, but... a lot of things work more quickly than my brain - my bad. The word I sought was anthropic, from the Greek, anthropos, human being, the derivation being anthropoid, adj, resembling man. Anthropoidal creature w/large hairy (my mind skipped "large" in the original flawed text) feet.-----OOPS

Due to tough times in the bush, Bigfoot moved into the city and got a job where he blends in just fine with the rest of us creeps.
