Which movie that took place in Alaska do you think was the best.
I would say the Edge.

I'm going to go way back......"The Thing" with Kurt Russell. It was from the early 80's...still one of my favorite horror movies.

I agree with you both but I thought Mystery, Alaska was a funny, quirky movie that was enjoyable.

I hate to take away the fun of this thread, but "The Thing" was set in Antarctica, and partially filmed in British Columbia, Canada. Great movie though!

Runaway Train. It didn't take place here, but most of it was shot on the Alaska Railroad.

I know the movie was set in Antarctica, but it was also filmed in Alaska.

Avoid the latest movie about Alaska - "The Grey" with Liam Nesson.

I like Liam Nesson, and bought the movie because of him and the fact that it is suppose to take place in Alaska. Even though it was not filmed in Alaska (you can instantly tell by looking at the trees). It was very poorly written, and did not resemble anything like Alaska. It was also very denigrating toward those who work on the slope. Overall, I thought the movie really sucked.

"Ice Quake" is another very bad movie that takes place in Alaska, although it was more stupid than bad, which made it rather funny. As a result it had some entertainment value, but you are laughing at the stupidity of the movie.
