I lived in Alaska briefly and although it was a beautiful place to visit, I would NOT want to live there again! There were way too many folks living off the welfare system and quite honestly, it seemed the majority of people I encountered were lazy and self-centered-to the point of complaining about the United States. All that pork you receive is from lower 48 where people DO work hard to pay taxes, support themselves, etc. If the lower 48 pulled all their welfare systems tomorrow, the state of Alaska would not survive....even WITH their oil monies.

This is the biggest crock of dung I have ever read.

I am sorry you feel like you have to leave, and wish you the best of luck. I was born and raised in Alaska, and yes, it has changed a lot. But living in the lower 48 states is worse, at least it was for this life long Alaskan. I left five years ago for Colorado and couldn't take the heat, the summer darkness, the traffic, and the shortage of wilderness places to loose myself in. Now I am back for good.

Ditto that. Having just moved here from California, as you know, I can definitively say that everything you posted is absolute truth. God, I'm so glad I got out of the People's Republik. I absolutely love it here.

Lol, we just had mule delivered, literally, 15 minutes ago. We needed a companion for our beast(over 18 hands)

and traded two gates for a mule. Where else can you do that?

OH my Goodness! What a lovely creature.....why a mule? I hope you can keep it in your fence.....a number of years ago I had one, and it could go over, under, or through any fence on the place....but I couldn't get rid of it, sold it twice, and it kept coming home....

We traded two gates for a mule. Samson needs a buddy and the mule didn't cost us a penny. Gotta love it.

Just costs to feed....for 9 months at least each year.. We just sold our hay equipment, and have given care of our hay fields over to someone else...Diesel being what it is, I just can't afford to put it up.....Good luck.

True, it does cost money to feed the beasts. But, oh well, such is life I suppose. And thanks for the well-wishes.

Having spent most of my life in Colorado, I have seen my home ruined by Californication as well. Housing is so expensive there now and what was once welcome growth is now just endless sprawl. I hope to move back there one day, and am affraid of how it will continue to change while I'm gone. A lot of states go through this. My step-sister's cousins grew up in Hawaii and real estate is so expensive there now that the younger generation is basically locked out of ever owning land in the place they grew up.....sad.

Marblehead, MA is where I grew up & we had a Californication of our own. A pretty little seaside town taken over by the rich & shameless & transformed into a suburb of Boston.

Just a note Australia does not allow citizenship just for being born on it's soil. You still have to go through a massive process to be approved, so it's not just anything like the US
