Requires alot of money upfront (solar/wind power, making your own ethanol for fuel, etc) unless your willing to sacrafice several orders of magnitude in quality of life.

Aren't you the guy who was going on about how it isn't worth living in Alaska if you don't own a small plane? I think I will take anything you have to say about "quality of life" with a grain of salt.

Anyone who wants to "live of grid" the old fasion was should see strangerinastrangeland he is one person I know who just about lives off the land. Want to see how they did it 100 years ago see some of his post and reading are great.
