as a former resident, I'd say Homer.

Seward is nice, but its seems limited in some ways. Homer is a bit farther from Anchorage, but its got more to offer.

Homer is the best choice. One plus is the AMHS Ferry does come to Homer. You can get to Kodiak and other places on the Ferry. It has been years since the Ferry came to Seward. There is much more to do and see in Homer but Seward has the Alaska Marine Life Center which is something special. Seward does have the Alaska Railroad which is a decent way to get to Anchorage.

Well I've never been to either but things I've read, people that I've chatted with or read posts from... HOMER... also the fishing is hands down per every statistic I've read is the biggest and best... fall I hear is great since a lot of tourists go home by then and the river(s) are quiet then... can't wait... I do hope it is this fall I can test that theory...
