Default TV in Alaska

Does anyone know of a television show being filmed in Alask currently? I used to watch Northern Exposure faithfully because it was supposed to take place in Alaska, even though I knew it was filmed in Washington. Someone told me recently that there was a show that I could watch that is filmed in Alaska. Does anyone know of this show, or what channel it might be on?

Sorry, haven't heard of anything. Truth be told, it's difficult to film in Alaska because of the lengths you have to go through to get the equipment on location. Usually these shows are filmed in Washington (Northern Exposure) or British Columbia (Men in Trees).
Frankly, the media's portrayal of us and our lifestyle has been lacking. I wouldn't believe anything you see on tv, even if it is really filmed in Alaska.

Into The Wild wild was filmed here last summer. Sean Penn's adaptation of John Krakauer's novel about a true story of Chris Macandles one way journey to Alaska.

Leave it to Hollywood to create a film about some tourist who thinks he can live off the land with very little food and equipment, and then ends up starving to death 4 months latter. Next thing you know Hollywood will be making a film about the tourists who wander out onto the mudflats around Anchorage during low-tide, only to get caught by the returning tide. Or perhaps that tourist who walked right up to the face of Exit Glacier near Seward, only to have several hundred tons of ice calve upon him. Nature has a way of weeding out the terminally stupid so Hollywood can make films about them.

Naturally, Hollywood won't acknowledge all the Alaskans who made their film possible. They didn't even film it in the location were McCandless lived and died. So when Hollywood says it is a "true story", you know they are lying.

Oh, Dirty Jobs was here in southwest Alaska filming a episode on looking for the bird flu. Jeff Corwin was here the past couple seasons for his show on Animal Planet. Can't think of anyone else, but Mike Rowe and gang are supposed to be back here in Bethel this winter for another taping.

Barbara's Mandrell's little sister is in Illimana hunting and fishing right now. I understand she is a much better hunter than singer.

Leave it to Hollywood.- well said. I wish they had taped into the wild in the correct place, I've read that book a few times and would have liked to see where he really was etc.

All AK films should come with a warning that says we just use Alaska cause it sounds cool. What we really mean is it is taped in North America and is based on some facts, of which we can't say which are true and which are fiction. Enjoy.

It's kinda the same here in Maine, they tape here but say it's down south like the carolina's. Maybe they need a geography/ethics leason

I think Men in Trees was the show I heard about, but I just couldn't remember the name. Thats interesting to know that it is filmed in British Columbia. Thank you everyone for your input.
