![]() Haha, I say that all in jest, though. It's just too damn easy to make fun of Wasilla, with a name and a governor like that. ![]() |

Sorry, height and zoning restrictions in building codes, not to say that there isn't room for some upward growth. Most of the build-able land is locked up by the Forest Service, the City and the good olde boys. It seems the latter only open up development when it's in their interests (i.e., want to keep prices high).

Well then they'll have to start building down then, I guess.

Just an inquiry, I am familar with SF so I guess my question is. Is Juneau full of gay folks like San Fran is? Being from California myself that is the only thing I think of when SF comes to mind, last time there was back in 1981 I took my kids into the main area and right back out again. Was not a fun ordeal, I hove absolutely nothing against gay folks at all, I find them to be remarkable people but that is still what I relate to SF.

My son was very young and at that time everybody was trying to make a statement and he was very confused and too young to explain. My daughter too was very young.

Well, Tressa, it's a shame that you felt your children's eyes were polluted by gay people.
When my son was very young, there was a hate crime committed within two blocks of our home. Two people were killed...a man and a woman who were both gay and who were roommates. They burned to death in their home because someone set it on fire for the simple "reason" that they were gay. To me, having to explain that to my child, and why there are people out there in this world who would do such an horrible thing to other human beings was one of the most difficult things I ever had to do. Much more difficult than explaining that those two guys (or women) over there are holding hands because they're in love. Homophobia is a social disease. |

I appreciate your response and your right it probably is a shame that 25 years ago I didn't want to explain to my young child why men were making out with other men, back then is wasn't as accepted and explained as it is today. Same as drugs in the 70's you never heard say no to drugs the biggest thing on TV was LSD, times change and at that time I wasn't ready to explain to my 3 year old.
