If folks take offense to the fact that I didn't want to explain to my young child what was happening at the time, well so be it. I did the right thing by removing him from the area when I wasn't comfortable, same as I removed him from movies that weren't appropriate.
Amazingly enough he turned out to be a great young man so what ever I did apparently was ok as he was not into drugs, nor crime. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and life in general. So go ahead and shame on me, I would do it again if the times were the same.

My son was five when the abomination I spoke of took place. I couldn't remove him from that and had no choice but to try to explain. The times were basically the same then as when your son was 3.
Sounds like we both raised good kids though; lord knows none of us parents are perfect. We just do the best we can.

Have it your way- shame on you. Explaining it to your son would have been easy, taken all of two seconds.
You say, "honey, love comes in all kinds, and looks different for everyone."

Can't rep you anymore right now, Xa'at.
Explaining love has gotta be a lot easier than explaining hate.

That's okay, I got your rep in spirit.
Sometimes the best lesson for a kid is seeing the result of hate, though. I'm sure that was a lesson the prince has not forgotten.

Sorry, but as a gay man I have to agree with Tressa. Don't plan on having kids, but if I hypothetically did I wouldn't want them witnessing ANY public displays of affection—gay or straight—as I don't believe it's appropriate behavior at all. There's a huge difference between holding hands with your boyfriend/girlfriend while walking down the street, and making out in public.
It bothers me when straight people do it, and I hold gay people to the same standard.

Ah..the Prince. I just had happy hour with him in Portland a couple of nights ago.
The time before when I was there, about 5 weeks ago, I spent the night at a place called the Ace Hotel. We had this great dinner, and then all of a sudden when we went outside we were in the middle of this really cool street party that had overflowed from the bar across the street--it was a same sex sort of deal and we had a blast.

Yeah, public displays of affection can be annoying I suppose, though they don't really bother me. But I'd rather my offspring witness that than public displays of hatred.

Well, yeah, would I rather my non-existant kids see people making out or someone getting murdered? Duh. But it's oversimplifying.... Would Tressa have acted the same had it been a straight couple making out? That's a question for him/her. But I think couples, gay or straight, acting like that in public is inappropriate.
