The US won't give it up anyways because it sits on too much oil. Never gonna happen.

Who says they'll just give it up? What if there is a huge fight? What if the USA turns Communist? What if there is global thermonuclear war? Scary, isn't it?

Yeah, they said that wasn't how the world worked in 1914 too, that nations were too tied together for war to break out. You see how that worked out.

Weak nations exist at the sufferance of powerful ones. So does The United Nations exist at the sufferance of the Great Powers. So would an independent Alaska exist. For a short while. If Russia went in who would stop them? Not The United States, if we didn't fight to keep Alaska from seceding we wouldn't fight to keep Russia from taking it once it had. The British are broken and in no condition to fight Russia. Canada might object but if in a fighting mood would be more likely to grab Alaska itself. Note that the UN is willing enough to get involved in minor scrapes but doesn't interfere with the adventures of the Great Powers.

Wars cost a great deal of money and given the economic state few nations will be filling to fight unless there is a direct economic benefit to doing so. Such as in grabbing an independent Alaska but not in defending it.

As for New Zealand, well as Bismarck might have said I don't think it's worth the life of one Pomeranian grenadier.

If you are not happy here, there are plenty of other countries out there to go to. You can become an ex-pat.

HogFamily is correct... So don't be fooled, numerous countries have not invaded the US by land, because they know everyone here has a gun and they know how to use it. We have the largest, best equipped, and trained reserve army in the world.
Yeah, okay.

Haven’t you seen Red Dawn? (The politically incorrect unedited original version that is).

WOLVERINES!

Or in our case:

HOGS!
In reality, aren't hogs bred to be slaughtered?

Don't get upset, I'm just asking a question.

......….and wolverines are trapped and their fur made into parky ruffs.

Take on us two legged wild hogs or a bunch of four legged wild hogs and you won’t last but a few seconds in either case!

Just sayin'

WILD HOGS!

Anything like a magic mushroom?
