Neither Union or Confederate.

The United States Senate approved the purchase of Alaska from Russia for $7,200,000 on August 1, 1867. The American Civil War was from 1861–1865. Alaska was still a Russian settlement at the time.

Well, the separatist in the lower 48 are getting really aggressive...

I was wondering if the separatist won in Alaska or if it is still Union based...

I know that LA is going for full succession. Violently, if necessary...

Globetraveler is absolutely correct though! Alaska was purchased from Russia AFTER the end of the civil war. The transfer ceremony took place in Sitka on October 18, 1867.

Really...?

Guess the Governor didn't get the memo...

ETA:

I looked up the petition for AK, and there are perhaps 1 in 20 with a location that are from AK, doesn't matter whether I think this would be a good idea or not, but I kind of take exception to someone in TX suggesting we secede. What do they want to be the biggest state in the union again...? Idjits.

Actually, the last shot fired in the Civil War was by the Confederate raiding ship, the CSS Shenandoah, on June 22, 1865, in Alaska off of the Aleutian Islands.

It's more of a cross of Arctic verses Sub Arctic. Stretching towards the longer days of summer, but with the coldness of winters, we tend to huddle more together.

Where down there is was more North verses South.

Hope that helps!
