Not sure about BLM jobs specifically but there was a recent article that may bode well for someone looking for a federal job in Alaska.

We occasionally have postings for people with environmental backgrounds. Keep an eye out here:

Alyeska Pipeline - Employment - Job Opportunities

Also watch the job postings for the other major producers up here - BP Alaska Exploration, Conoco-Phillips, and Exxon-Mobil.

I work on the slope and get asked this a lot. The best thing is google "northslope jobs" There is a list of most companies that hire workers on the slope, what they do and the websites for the company. You might also think about getting your NSTC card, its cheap and shows your serious about working up here. We get 100's of resumes, now that ice road truckers and other Discovery shows are showing the area. Main thing.... keep at it!

Good luck,

That's very informative! I looked up getting a the NSTC card and all the locations you can take the class are in Alaska, which makes sense but the next time I'll be in Alaska is next summer in Nome and they don't offer the course there. I wonder if I could email them or something and possibly take the course here in Wisconsin? That would save me $1700 in air travel

I am not aware of any "online" classes for the NSTC class. You might try adding an extra couple of days to your trip and go through Anchorage first. All of the people I work with took ours with NANA. The NSTC is required to get into the secured area. I believe that the state of Alaska is the one who mandates all workers here have to have the training. I know Acuren is hiring NDT trainees right now. Its a good place to start off and free health Insurance.

Hope this helps

I did those NSTC classes for years including refresher courses...and in 15 years was never asked to show it. As a new hire or going through a checkpoint. Not once.

Same here. I had slope access for over a year before I took the classes. And even then, I had to research and find them myself, my supervisor didn't even know how to sign up.

And as mentioned above, they are definitely not online courses. And I'm pretty sure they aren't offered anywhere else outside of Alaska.
