I recently moved to Anchorage and am looking for a local bank/credit union. Any suggestions? Who do you guys bank with?

Branches in at least Anchorage/Fairbanks/Juneau are requirements for me, but having access to branches/ATMs in other citys wouldn't hurt.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. Been a member there for over 30 years. They also meet all the other requirements you are looking for.

same here.

And no problems except they thought my SIL was me and gave her information about our account without asking for ID. (She was making a deposit). I was very upset about this.

Denali FCU.
I have used Alaska USA but Denali has been better, 30 years.

I use Alaska USA and Denali Alaskan FCU. AKUSA has many more locations available. They're even in Seattle. Customer service seems to be a bit more "personal" at Denali.

I got my auto loan at Spirit of Alaska FCU and they've been good. Wouldn't know how they are about general banking, though.

You know, I've heard lots of bad stuff about Wells Fargo but I had a limited choice of banks when I lived in a small Alaskan town so I begrudgingly opened an account. They've been really good to me, helped me with some issues. I've been very pleasantly surprised! They have branches everywhere in Alaska, and all over the country. I also really like Alaska USA FCU.

I loathed Wells Fargo--a fee for everything and they were less helpful than they could have been when I had a fraudulent charge, though I did eventually get my money back.

I closed my account after 6 months and went with Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, which has been great. They probably only have branches in the valley, though.
