Swearing off--help me be strong please
Xa'at...MM...Arcticlaw... et al and etc., I need your support.
I woke up today with a firm resolve to swear off reading in the relationship forum altogether but then realized I was perhaps creating too large of a potential burden for myself and setting myself up for failure.
So I have decided to take this a small bit at a time and will not be reading/posting in there for an entire week. We shall see what happens if I manage to make it through.
Please help me get through this by providing supportive, encouraging words. Thank you in advance.

I was addicted to the relationship section a while back, but then reading all the stuff just depressed me. So I walked away. Can I be added to your support system? You know, tough love!

Sometimes when giving up an active addiction, ie. relationship forums (almost as bad as crack cocaine) planning a week at a time is too great a time span, to start, try one hour at a time, and with practice and several hours clean time away from the relationship forum, increase the time span to 6 hours, continue increasing the time span every two or three days, but, on no case or cause, exceed promising yourself that you can resist the temptation for more than one day. A week is just too long a time span and is just setting you up to fail, the human brain has trouble with time spans greater than the immediate, one day seems to be about the extent of will power, of course you could always come to this forum and announce that you are feeling weak, that your resolve is disolving and I suspect you will find support from your friends. Me too. I could not stay out of there. But lately it's full of some really weird posts. So even tho I may blast through it I have not posted in a week or so. I find doing the dishes or feeding the cat is much more rewarding than posting in the relationship forum!

Met do like I did. Go rent 4 or 5 movies and watch them all. Gets you off the computer for a good 6 hours. Tomorrow you need to come up with a new task. Like take a walk, or split some wood, anything to get away from the computer!

I've been out at camp so no real time for it but I'm going on break for a week and that's what I am really worried about. I don't want to waste it all in that train wreck. Of course I could always make up some more bs to post about not being able to find a man after so many years in Alaska.
