I don't really have a problem with Hillary, although it does rather annoy me that, should she get elected, we will have had either a bush or a clinton in office for nearly two decades!!
I think it's time for some fresh blood.A friend of mine was talking about her and accidentally said "Kill-'er-y"- cracked me up. I'm putting in my vote for Obama, although to be honest McCain wouldn't really bother me too much either. I think a dem is going to win, though. However, if RON PAUL gets elected, I'm going to Canada. I love Alaska with all my heart, but I cannot stay in a country that would elect him. ![]() Thankfully, that will never happen. ![]() Last edited by Xa'at; 01-10-2008 at 08:30 PM. |

The quote is often attributed to P.T. Barnam, don't know if he really said it or not, but "no one has ever gone broke trying to underestimate the taste of the American people" Don't know if it's entirely true, but, sometimes when I see the shows on the tube, there may be a good case. Anyway, we have had "lets' go back to the cave" mentality candidates before, and after Paul, there will be others. Yes, his opinions are scary, but, I doubt he has a real chance of election. As a nation we elect more milk toasts than firebrands. |

Another ill informed chiming chiming on politics I see? Hilary, is in fact far more conservative then Mccain. Don't believe me? Try researching her voting record. She is even more conservative then her other half, slick Willy. All you liberals crack me up. You all think Hilary will offer national healthcare. It's not going to happen folks and she has already said it won't happen. You all think she will end the war in Iraq. It's not going to happen folks. Hilary has said time and time again......she intends to meet with her advisors once elected and then decide how to handle it. Trust me, we stay the course, no matter whom is elected. What do you think all these miltary and national security leaders have been telling Bush? Same thing they will tell Hilary......."we must stay the course." And by the way, it is finally working. Mccain has went against Bush more then any other Democrat on all the major issues. Often openly crticsizing the President. He stands on his own two feet and is NEVER afraid to speak his mind and tell you what he really thinks. He is by far the most experienced and would be a ace in the sleeve of America in dealing with Foreign policy. Not to mention he was dead last, broke and had to fire his entire campaign staff just a few months ago.......where is he know? Leading in 65% of all states now! The man shows grit and determination, double over any other candidate. He has his flaws, like they all do, but he is the man for the job in the current times we live in. Young people like him, old folks like him, he communicates well with all demographics, he is compassionate, cares deeply for this country and far more to the left then many would ever think. |

Jeeeebus.
Thankfully, the wanna-be pundits here aren't going to decide the election, nor are they going to be providing reasoned discourse to the masses on the merits or demerits of contending candidates. I'd take the time to debunk and disprove the misinformation and unfounded suppositions ventured so far in this thread about each and every candidate mentioned, but I've already learned that most people on these 'forums' aren't much interested in factual information when it comes to speaking of political realities. Suffice it to say, if you look to City Data forums as a place to become informed about your responsibilities as a citizen, and you even consider casting a vote because of much of what you hear on a third rate message board, there won't be much in the way of an informed vote evolving from such behavior. . .. |

Well I'm safely home (well at work now) and settled in. Still fighting the time diff between here and Sweden. I am very pleased to come home and see snow. I have about 2 foot in the yard and even got to plow the driveway. The temp was ok at 16 above...but it's like 34 below here in Kuparuk. With wind. It's got a bite to it. The highway is very slick between my house and Anchorage. Lot's of places where folks have parked in the ditch. I think the refuge is open now to snowmachines. Will be nice to get out for some pictures, campfire, and a little smoked salmon. You folks be safe out there. Karla your box is in the mail!
