I think that User2 knows a little something about research and can discern a legitimate source from a questionable one, though.

Default A little conflict can be a good thing...

I get the impression...and this is just me...he could use a little work in communication. He would be a great asset to this entire site if he did not have the tendency to rub folks the wrong way. And he's not always like that because I've seen it in more than one post/thread. Now I'm no saint and I'm not judging anyone, I like everyone just the way they are. If you think about it, there could be a very good team here. Some folks are just that way. Red vs Blue vs Yellow vs White type personalities. We all will never agree at the same time. Conflicts are inevitable.

People love to be agreed with.
People hate to be disagreed with.
People like other people that agree with them.
People dislike other people that disagree with them.

That's just the way it is.
We can be collaborating, accomodating, compromising, avoiding, or competing. Let's try to appreciate people's differences. We are made different for a reason. Life (and people) would be bland and boring if we all thought alike. Sorry if I've pissed anyone off, but this is part of how I make my living. Getting rooms full of diverse people to communicate.

Discuss...

Seems to me I read where all moderators are volunteers.

Commonly accepted definition of 'making a living' must not apply.

As far as my communication skills, I'm able to get across what I mean to say.

I'm satisfied with that, .....I'm not here to see if I can please everyone,

....and I've never had much respect for people who only try to please everyone else.

As to 'rubbing people the wrong way'? Some folks can't abide with being exposed to what they'd just as soon not be reminded of.

Some folks like to harbor their own set of facts, or their own version of reality. Some folks don't like hearing anything which contradicts that.
.
..

Some folks wouldn't recognize themselves if they met themselves on the street.

Me, I set high ethical and moral standards for myself, and I abide by them.

I'm not unhappy with who I am, and I'm not unfamiliar with who I am.

Being at peace with my own conscience is not a problem for me, and that's all I concern myself with.

I'm not going to fight other peoples demons for them,

......I figure they'll eventually figure them out, or they won't.

"The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds,
and the pessimist fears this is true."
- James Branch Cabell

I've been called a pessimist, .....I don't know, .......I'd like to think we could live in a better world,
........but one thing I'm sure of is, ...we don't live in the best of all possible worlds.

So I'd have to think pessimism will serve a useful purpose.

Better than to think this is as good as it's ever going to get, eh?

Ha...User.

With 3 daughters in Xa'at's general age bracket, I think it's a generational communication barrier.

Yes your communication skills. Not grammar skills. If you don't get the prolly thing...well I guess your just too damn educated for the rest of us. Your shins must look like hell. Anyone with their nose that far up in the air must run into all kinds of things. Funny thing is...you bash folks over the most trivial little things. Which counter acts your so called intelligence level. So basically your just another a$$hole with nothing better to do than come to a message board and bash people like your some kind of better than them. And this morning...I've had just about all I can stand of your holier than thou bull****. If you don't like the way people talk here...voluntarily take a leave of absence...or be forced to take one. Keep your flaming remarks to yourself or take a hike. Today is the last day you will damage this forum. Your more of an embarrassment than any kind of assistant to this Ak forum.

Yes I'm a volunteer here. My being here has nothing to do with my occupation. But my occupation has a lot in common with what goes on here. And in my occupation...those that refuse to act civil toward others usually have 2 options. Window seat or aisle on the flight home. And they are not invited back.

I would think that after reading what I have written in the past, you would realize that I am not USUAL! I'm able to get across what I mean to say.
I'm satisfied with that, .....I'm not here to see if I can please everyone.
Sound familiar, Monsieur?

I guess it just depends on which "one" you're talking about.

Hey everybody.

I might just have a not so bright idea because of something I saw on a travel site a few minutes ago.

First question: Is it still very cold in AK in May? Early, middle, or late May? Which is better? Cold for me is probably boiling hot for you Alaskans so I figure is it above 50 degrees yet at that time of the year?

Thanks.
