Thank you.

Growing up in the Tongass.....gave him the strength to leave it.

This is one of my favorite photos of him, on the west coast of Italia.

I had a chance to go over to Greece a couple of summers ago, I'm kicking my self in the rear for not going!

I have quite a bit of family over in Sicily... I really want to go someday and meet them. Unfortunately a lot of them have moved to somewhere I'm not willing to go- the east coast (), where they all talk in quasi-Italian/New Yorker accents and potentially work for the mob.

I have a friend that is planning a trip in May to France, I'm not leaving country until things cool off and when everyone starts liking the United States again. I might be waiting for a long time!

Hey Warpt, don't hold off.

Matt first went abroad when he was 19. A lot of people advised him to play Canadian. His integrity didn't come that cheap though...

it was kind of funny...when he came back the first time, quite a few people asked him if he had been treated badly because he was American.

It wasn't a problem though, and I doubt if it would be now. I don't see you as the type to haunt the typical touron locales. Just go and be yourself and you'll be fine.

Last time I went to Canada (Whitehorse, to be exact) someone left a pieced together-ransom style hate note on my car windshield.
I'd wait for a few years after the presidentialidiot gets out of office. Time for us to revert some of his changes, to employ a wikipedia term.

I've never had problems in Canada before. I've been through there 13 times now with the last time in August. My parents loved it and I'm glad I drove them down to Montana and back. Everyone is talkative and helpful in answering questions I asked about food and road conditions.

yeah, I guess there is all kinds of excuses out there.

Last time I was in Whitehorse I was proposed to. I don't think it had anything to do with Herr Bush.

It ain't gonna be getting any better, kiddos. Either be global citizens or.... not. That's one thing that really is simplistic.

Proposed to? You know, Whitehorse is just a plain weird town. Like the Twilight zone. I got lost like three times while I was there, (which never happens to me, I have an excellent sense of direction) and got to roam around in the 11:00pm sun, which is truly an odd sensation. I went downstairs of my hotel in broad daylight to find it was bustling with people (mostly tourons fresh off a bus), went back upstairs to find it was the middle of the night. Surprise! Very disorienting.
I do think that in time our reputation may heal. In the meantime, I try to be global. J'ai appris le français, ouais?
