I've never been in that type of work situation. But I could very well see myself telling some smart a$$ rude customer to kiss my you know what and get the hell out. And then telling the manager the same thing after the now angry customer has reported me. Yeah...I'd make about a day in a job like that.

I'm not so inclined to think the customer is all that much at fault here, there was evidently no sign saying the person taking the orders was impaired and that person needed to see anyone's face to be able to take the order.
All that was provided for the customer was a microphone, ....once the customer established that, in fact, the worker could hear them, how would they have supposed to have known that the worker had an impairment and that the microphone was not sufficient for it's intended purpose? It is the responsibility of management to provide clear understanding to the customer about policies, and it looks to me as if management did not anticipate the impaired state of it's worker when it did not inform it's customers that the microphone by itself was not sufficient to complete the task at hand. I would find just as much fault with the owner, management and worker for not making the special conditions of the use of their facilities clear to it's customers, ......rather more than I would try to assign full blame to a customer for not understanding the microphone alone may not have been sufficient. Most of the time when one is confronted with a microphone to place an order, there is an assumption that the microphone is sufficient to the task assigned to the microphone. My bet is, that once the two switch places, their consideration for the other's position in this 'incident' may improve. . .. |

How hard is it to pull up to a mic...I mean to drive past it, then get out of the vehicle, clearly hear the order taker asking for the order over the loudspeaker...and then have the customer go off on a rampage...
Yeah...I'd have said something along the lines of..."ma'am...you have 2 choices. Which butt cheek of mine you can kiss right here right now". And hey...have a nice day!
