Apologies not necessary.

I have had several glasses of my AK medicine so far this evening - I am sure that I am as silly as anyone else.

However, I now have liquid courage and desire to argue politics----

any takers???

I don't argue politics, but I will discuss it. For a fee, of course.

"Can we accept Democrats?"

The question for me would be whether we can accept Republicans, and given what that party is doing to the country, my answer would be no.

My whole take on conservatism is:

I understand economic and governmental conservatism. Cutting taxes makes sense (except tax cuts for the rich- that just annoys me), and I can totally see why people would want less government intrusion in their daily lives.
I do not understand nor in any way agree with social conservatism. I believe that health care, welfare, etc should be provided by the government as a service to the people of this country. I also am against moves to reduce the freedoms of any of our people- legal, illegal, male, female, gay, straight, black, white, etc etc. I believe that the constitution has made it quite clear that we are are equal, and not following the constitution should be among our highest crimes. Furthermore, I would like to see a clear separation of church and state. As I said earlier, I have no problem with religion, in fact I like it. I do not like it when people shove their religion in my face and act self-righteous because I don't believe the same thing they do.
Also I think war is ridiculous and advocate diplomatic resolution whenever possible.
The end!

Me too! That's what the origins of the Republican Party were about.

I can accept you as an individual, mal, but I can't accept the rethugnican party as a whole given what they are doing to my country, particularly the to the young, what with their oil war and all.

Then why would you make that perticular choice?
id go with number two because a road there could help out with more tourisim and other things through out the state. and it would be nice to just hop in a car and take a nice drive down there

On the contrary, Bush and company are al Qaeda's greatest ally. A bunch of rag-tag guerrillas armed with makeshift explosives and boxcutters could not have pulled the US into the biggest atrocity/quagmire since Vietnam without being aided and abetted by that pack of corporate cronies and war profiteers currently seizing the White House. Bin Laden & co. have proven to be brilliant strategists compared to the incompetent war hero wannabes.

Invading, butchering, maiming, poisoning and slaughtering hundreds of thousands who did nothing to us so we can steal their resources is not winning; it's crimes against humanity. My views have not changed since 1969. The US needs to stop being a terrorist nation.

My views on the environment, specifically the Alaskan environment, is similar to Dipper's views. I believe we can responsibly develop our resources while maintaining the Alaska environment we have all come to love.
At least we agree on something.
