3) Expand and improve upon AMHS, including building additional vessels, adding more port cities, and bringing the existing ships up to par with the Fairweather & Chenega. (not making them fast ferries, but doing some remodeling to make them more modern, like adding those nifty gps maps) I also propose that we fire Ted Stevens and use his salary (including all that money he took from oil execs) along with Murkowski's retirement fund to pay for these improvements. Lord knows they owe it to us. ![]() |

The hell with a road to Juneau, why does it need a road? The one they'd like to build goes through a major landslide area anyway. I vote to sink all the cruise ships and move the capital to Klawock.

I must. The father of the Prince of Wales has what is probably a collector's item by now, an old 70's board game created by the Alaska oil industry--something about racing around the pipeline I think. I am going to create a board game in which the player who sinks the most cruise ships wins. |

I knew you would not limit yourselves to just my answers, your both typical Alaskans and prefer to think outside the box and do it your way.
I was hoping to find a way to not add to government, though I think the system of connecting the comunities in southeast does need improving. I thought that was what the Fairweather was supposed to help do. |

What the cities in the south east should do is during the summer time, raise the sales tax up to around 10% and bring it back down to zero or wherever you have it. If Anchorage can do this to build new convention centers and have every Alaskan pay for a bed tax, should have a cruise ship sales tax.

The people in my part of SE Alaska did just that, Arctic. They broke away from the Alaska Marine Highway system and started their own ferry system. Instead of a twice a week ferry we now have a round trip every day from POW to Ketchikan. Our ferry doesn't have a bar on it though.
