Was that before the big dump last year? When I was up there, the snow accumulation was so great that the snow "pile" by the airport looked like a baby mountain! I've got pics somewhere of the snow right around last Thanksgiving, back when the Freddy's was undergoing improvements and was hardly heated. Oh yea, good times!!

Ooooh man...
Well, soon enough...

yea, right before. they did a good job keeping the roads cleared, but at times the big plows completely blocked the doors with the berms....lol
Caught a lot of folks off guard. But this year they're predicting a "normal" winter (100 inches)....just like they predicted a normal one last year...lol

Haha, oh I'm not worried about getting a job! They have like ten locations!!
I'm picky though, I want to work in the downtown one. Even though my apartment is out in Auke Bay... As commutes go it's not that bad, and that's my favorite location. I also wouldn't mind working in the one up on the hill by Subway, just because it's so close to SILVERBOW!!

The Heritage there by the Airport, well not the little drive thru, the one closer to the Mendanhall Mall--they serve some pretty decent food, but I love the downtown one because of their ice cream!!

I'll bet you could have made some extra $$$ shoveling roofs last winter. Saw lots of folks doing it. Where I was staying, the roof was metal with a pretty high pitch--you'd hear this creaking in the middle of the night---pause, then all the sudden BAM--instant avalanche, and the walkway disappeared and the snow baracaded the door shut.

love this board.....never a dull moment! DannyL and anyoe else who knows; my family and I (husband, daughter, dog and cat) are moving to Juneau in May. Any hints on moving companies? How long it typically would take to ship belongings from S.C.? WE don't have any major appliances to bring. We're only bringing essential furnishings. Hope we can meet you nice people once we get there.

Don't really know about moving companies, but people have used U-Haul.
Have you lined up a place to stay yet? DO NOT RENT ANYTHING IN JUNEAU SIGHT-UNSEEN!!!!
And May is at the start of tourist season, motel rates triple. You may want to line up and "extended stay" room at either the Driftwood or the Breakwater. Both are clean and safe, and reasonable as far as Juneau goes, about 1200 bucks a month. Actually pretty fair since everything is included.
