Well then,
Umm, no real words can express the absurdity of that "holdup".
Even in New Orleans, one of the leading murder capitals in the lower 48, criminals don't stoop that low.
They must've been on drugs.
Wonder if they ever got their cheeseburgers...

I'm just surprised the parents didn't take care of this little problem, the Alaska way.

Not only is the crime totally absurd but those guys have to be two of the stupidest criminals around.
Who would stop to get cheeseburgers in such a small town after having committed a crime???
Incredible! And obviously the guy decided to put the last nail in his coffin by stealing the badge from the trooper.
You know just when you think you have heard it all!!!

So true. I live in Wyoming, in a town just a little bigger than Talkeetna. We've had several occasions when the "greenies" come to town and cause trouble. Usually the police don't have to get involved because the locals take care of the problem and run them out of town. One rather stupid young man stole the car of a local high school teacher and then went to the local hot pool to see his girlfriend before leaving town. Unable to see the car from the pool area, he was rather shocked when he came out to find that seven high school kids had surrounded his ill gotten gain with their cars and were waiting on the sheriff.

I agree, they should have been found in the river frozen, attributed to an "alcohol related incident".

Sweet! They got another of the Halloween Gang. From this mornings trooper reports:
Location: Houston
Case number: 07-92709
Type: Suspect Arrest- 6 counts Robbery 1, 7 counts Assault 3
Text: Continuing investigation conducted by the Alaska Bureau of
Investigation led to the determination that a woman identified as Amber
M. Martin, 20 years old, of Wasilla, was one of the two persons who
participated in the Halloween evening armed robbery and assault of a
group of trick or treating juveniles near downtown Talkeetna. On
11/02/07, at about 2032 hours, Martin was contacted as an occupant of a
motor vehicle that was stopped for an equipment violation by a Houston
police officer. Pursuant to a notification protocol, ABI investigators
were advised and thus responded to the traffic stop location, near mile
53 of the Parks Highway. Subsequent to this contact, Martin was arrested
and remanded at MatSu Pretrial facility in Palmer, on 6 counts of
Robbery in the First Degree and 7 counts of Assault in the third Degree.
Bail was set at $20,000 cash plus court approved third party. This
investigation is ongoing.

Is it just me? or did these perps water seem a bit tainted? Well I don't think we will have to worry about any of these three contributing to the gene pool anytime soon. And a well deserved high five to the troops and citizens who risked their lives to apprehend these vermin.
