Yup: go to this link:

FM Reviews - Main Index

Read thru'em, ponder for awhile, then choose a lens that has a rating of "8", or higher...nothing less. The Rebel XT is a good camera. The Canon "L" lens series work great, but are spendy. If your pockets are not lined particularly deep, remember that several of the RECENT (not more than 2 years old) lens from 3rd party manufacturers (Tokina, Tamron, Sigma) are quite good on a Canon. I've had fairly good success with a Sigma 50-500 zoom and a Sigma 24-70 zoom on my Canon EOS-20D. After having used them for a year, now I wish I had chosen one of the 17-50mm, or 18-70mm...instead of the 24-70...it's just not quite "wide" enough for scenery and close-in family shots. The telephoto one is good though. The Sigma 100-300mm f4 EX APO IF HSM lens is a particularly fine telephoto lens that can be had new for around $800...VERY few gripes from owners of that one. If I had it to do over again, I would get that one. You can do a Google search for "camera lens reviews" to find other sites.
Do your research first...you won't regret it. My 2 cents...

Bud
