Talking Police logs

I thought it might be fun to share interesting or funny entries from police logs in Alaskan papers.

Here is my contribution:

Excerpt from Cordova Times, October 18, 2007 - A Matter of Record

TUESDAY, OCT. 9
8:12 a.m. A caller reported a brown Labrador retriever on the playground that would not leave and requested an officer come get the dog and find the owner. The dog heard the officer was coming and left the scene.

Smart dog

I think this could be fun

I'm going to have to look it up when I have more time, but there was one this summer in the Skagway paper about how a porcupine came into the local bar and they called the police on it.

I went looking for one that I remember from this July- along the way I found these. Never did find the one I was looking for, though.

"At 3:32 p.m. Saturday, the theft of scrap aluminum was reported in the 8300 block of Old Dairy Road."
Ooh, scrap metal.

"At about 3:34 p.m. Wednesday a mailbox was set on fire in the 4000 block of Delta Road."

"
At 6:10 p.m. Saturday, the contents of a mailbox were set on fire at the 4400 block of Julep Street."
"Dang, man! My PFD was in there!"

And finally...
(right next to each other on the police blotter)
"At about 4:02 p.m. Monday, a 25-year-old man was arrested on a charge of trespassing in the 400 block of Fifth Street. He was lodged at the state prison."
"At about 10:09 a.m. Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was arrested on a charged of trespassing in the 400 block of 11th Avenue. He was lodged at the state prison."
Wow, those 25 year old men are really going crazy on the 400 blocks of various numbered streets. I wonder if they're sharing a cell, too?

Default a hoot

Reading the blotter in the local paper here is a hoot! There was one recently along the lines of:

Caller reported a skateboarder going down the middle of the street....oohhh...those scofflaw outlaw rebel skate punks are REALLY hanging it out there!

I'll try to find some goodies.

Alaska state troopers arrested Tolen and Wilson at a Talkeetna bar and restaurant shortly after the holdup at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 31.

The children told troopers two women got out of a truck on Main Street, pointed a revolver at them, fired a shot in the air, threatened them with death and drove off with their trick-or-treat haul

Troopers announced last week that the robbery investigation led them to $100,000 worth of items stored near Montana Creek Road that were stolen during a string of recent Talkeetna-area burglaries. Among the items was a plastic pumpkin filled with candy bearing one of the children's names

User 2, you must be from a really small town. 22 homicides in a year is unfortunate, but realistic. I grew up in a city that had that many in a matter of days or a week, so no comparison. Unfortunately, crime is part of human nature and it will exist all over. If you live in Alaska, you must be really unhappy. My advice is for you to head south into the lower 48, and find your imaginary Utopia. Please quit knocking Anchorage.

You can keep your advice for your own future counseling...

I've been to Anchorage, I can knock it from a personal viewpoint.

I've watched Anchorage devolve steadily for many, many years now,

...and my family was there long before that, and I've filled be in on what it was like before I ever glimpsed it.

My post was in keeping with the content of this thread,

...oh, and if you don't like the blotter in your own morning newspaper,

.....you should talk to the editors, it wasn't something I created.
