Nice photos warptman, although I have to admit that if you said those were photos of eastern Montana I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It is remarkable how flat it is on your side of the Alaska Range. Not nearly as flat as Kansas or Nebraska, but still pretty flat. And where are your forests? Nothing but scrub as far as the eye can see.

Oh yea, you failed to mention that sunset in Bethel today was at 5:32 PM, Alaska Daylight Savings Time.

Too funny. Now THAT reminds me of Nebraska. And yes, Nebraska has an official State Forest, just south of the South Dakota border. But you will find more telephone poles than trees in that "forest."

You must be too far to see the Kuskoquim mountains, or they aren't as big as I thought. On a clear day I'm used to seeing moutains in every direction, 360°.

The closest of the Kilbuck Mountains is Three Step(it has three steps). 35 miles as the raven flies.

Don't tell me... That's a photo of the Bethel Golf Course, right?

Don't look now, but I see TREES! Okay, maybe not vast sweeping forests of trees, but trees nonetheless. They just grow in the form of a copse, or small clusters. How firm is the ground a mile or two outside Bethel? Lots of muskeg? Let's just say I wanted to hike 5 or 10 miles out of town in any random direction. Would I need hip-waiters or a boat?
