Hello there,
It seems that the thread got hijacked to New Olreans... Likely my fault, sorry. So, if you will, please assist me with my initial query- should I ship my car or buy one there? (Approx. 3k to ship my Suburban.) How to get my dog there, temporary lodging, etc. Thanks again. This is really a great forum. ![]() |

What year is your truck? If you plan to stay a while, I'd ship it. Suburbans would would good here in Bethel. And when it comes time to sell it, people like to know that all the miles on it weren't all Bethel miles. Are you driving your truck up from New Orleans? If you are, you can take the dog with you through Canada as long as you have all of its records with you. Get a dog kennel and it'll go in as checked luggage. Don't know about the temporary housing. The WhiteHouse Bed and Breakfast mushes dogs, might be able to stay there.

just an Idea, you could always ship everything else and drive the Dog and the Suburban up, from what I understand, and the Photo's that Rance, et al, have posted, the drive seems to be- A. very long B. Quite beautiful. I would stick any handguns into the drawers of various pieces of furniture, wrapped tightly in towels and not tell anyone (the movers) that they are there, the long guns are not a problem going through Canada, as I understand it. Warptman,
It's an 05, but I am flying up. Thought about driving, but I really hate long road trips. Would have to ship it in. That's why I am worried about my dog. I know my vet will give me doggie sedatives for the flight, but just need to figure out how to responsibly bring her there. Thanks for your insight. |

Oh yeah, I understand completely about the German Shepherd thing, we have two, a male going on seven who is probably smarter than am I, and his daughter, a rambunctious young lady, also quite smart, they certainly can grow on ya, great company and never contradict what I'm saying, well..... hardly ever.

The Alaska Commercial Store has a bunch of SUVs for sale that came on the last barge. I don't know how much they're selling them for.

You can't drive a car or anything to Bethel. 400 Miles to the nearest road system.
