Okay,
Here's the deal I can get; please let me know your thoughts. Relocation allowance of $20K, and that will have to include shipping a vehicle, should I wish, and my faithful German Shepherd. Oh yeah, and me and my stuff. Should I save on shipping my Suburban and just buy a junker there? Will my dog do OK there given the extremes? (She is about 6yo and in excellent health. And I go NOWHERE without her.) I can keep her inside, but will likely be at a B&B or other lodging until I get a place of my own. Any good places for temporary lodging that will accept dogs until I find a place, or should I have her sent in after I settle? Your thoughts are welcome. ![]() |

Oh Yeah,
And just how do I ship a dog to AK that does not involve dry ice to keep her fresh? |

I had to read the title twice. When I first clicked on it I thought I read it as :"Relocation of Brothel".....

Funny, our business manager was born in New Orleans. It still amazes me how everyone finds their way to Bethel. All walks of life and many different cultures. Now whenever I travel to Anchorage, I hardly know who everyone is on the jet going there or coming home. Its like new people show up everyday!

New Orleans was one of those places that most folks never leave.
Extended family and friends is the norm here. Oddly enough, most people I know desperately wanted to leave- even before Katrina. Now that the city is still pretty much destroyed, the largest exodus of people in our history has occurred. Now we have more new folks in town. I am one of the last of my friend network to get outta' Dodge. (I have a very specialized education and folks like me left in droves. Hate to leave but there really is no opportunity. Cost of living is rapidly escalating and salaries are still in stasis like before the storm. Typical New Orleans style- lethargic and carefree. Hospitals here cannot retain people and healthcare is a joke.) Anyway, it will be odd, but everyone I know that left is much happier. Besides, I always wanted to do something different. It makes me feel better to know that there is a New Orleanian already there that isn't frozen. ![]() |
