Default cool summer jobs.

OK so now is the time, I expect, that it would be a good idea to start looking for summer work.

I am a private pilot but I don't have enough hours or ratings to work as a pilot.....yet.

What are some good seasonal jobs available....prefer to be around planes. And I'd prefer a smaller bush operation rather than just fueling at a large airport too. Will need housing or be able to make enough to afford housing.

Thanx

I would check with operators out of Lake Hood, and Merrill Field. I dont know alot of the operations up there. I am only familiar with Mustang Air flight school out of Palmer. But rumor has it that Hageland aviation is opening a base in Palmer.

Dave Rocke at Family Air in Ketchikan always hires a couple of people to work for him in the summer. You'll do a bit of everything but you won't get to fly the plane. He pays pretty good for Ketchikan. You might also check with Pro-Mech Air and Taquan Air in Ketchikan. They always add seasonal help in the summer.

Default helo tours

Might check in Skagway or up around Denali for the outfits that do helicopter tours of the glaciers and such. They're usually looking for loader/unloader, front counter help, sometimes even help in the hanger or the wash rack. Try Coastal Helicopters in Juneau, Era up north, and Temsco in Skagway.

The ability to pass a p1ss-test is a major accomplishment in some communities, and it's a requirement for aviation-related work.

No, what we are saying is if you want to work around any Federal controlled or regulated industry Alcohol and drug testing is mandatory. This includes aricraft, refineries, Pipelines, military construction projects etc, pretty much anything with Federal $ or the transportation industry.

Drugs of any kind are available no matter which state you live in. The issue here is that about 50% of employment is government related.
