Default Alaska locations - moving - why

I am just curious to find out from you folks that have posted your desire to move to Alaska why you picked the locations you picked?
For example I have not read of any desires to move to:
Kodiak - one of the most temperate locations.
Sitka - reasonably small city, ferry access, good fishing, on the 'Inside passage - a good thing', easy access to more remote areas.
Pettersburg --- same--- and no cruse ships
Wrangel ---same only smaller ----
any of the cities on the Kenai.

that's easy for me to say, it's a matter of economics. I need a paycheck to eat and house myself.
I'd love to work on Kodiak, but it's mostly a fishing and coastie area.

earls,

I found a job in Bethel.
That simple.
Looked into it on a lark, did research on how living there is and wound up liking what I saw.

We are planning to move to Kenai, or there abouts due to my wife hopefully getting a transfer. We are though leaving just about all options open just encase she doesn't get the transfer. I've been keeping my eyes open on what's around, most in the IT market are around Anc. Still shooting for late May/June.
