Maybe in some areas of Alaska? In the interior the temperatures changes rapidly, but so far it's about normal for this time of the season. The clouds and snow falling sometimes bring the temperature up a little. I do see a little break coming with the temperature.

Cold as crap the last few days here: windy, icy, and clear. But it's supposed to snow tonight and through the weekend. Maybe a foot or two and some rain. Boo rain.

That map is overall temps, not a cold front or two... And I find it sorta accurate for my area of the US.

Snow is here. Lots of wind, too. I hope it stays this time--the roads have been ridiculously dusty until today!

Snow and wind all the way to Anchorage today. Nice drive tho. Radio said rain after midnight. Heck it was 7 degrees when I left Sterling at noon...and only 10 when I got into Anchortown. Warmest spot was Summit Lake Lodge area with a whopping 12 degrees! Rain is going to make a mess of things.

In the interior we often have warmer temperatures above 400 feet from the ground. Any precipitation turns to rain up there, but when it hits to cold ground it freezes. This creates very difficult driving conditions. We also get some strong Chinook winds, sometimes in the middle of the winter; these winds bring warm air and rain, and this in turns the roads into skating rinks, right after the winds stop and it gets cold again. The glare ice is almost impossible to remove from the roads, so a lot of crushed gravel is used for vehicular traction. A new windshield, the lucky one, lasts about a season

It's supposed to warm slightly by tomorrow morning, with strong wind gusts. But it's supposed to stay fairly cold throughout. Regardless we do welcome a little warmth after the recent -35 degree temperatures.

A couple days ago the temp dropped 22 degrees in a few hours. It's been at or below zero for the last two days. It's snowing here now and we're supposed to get six-eight inches of snow from this storm.

Interesting... So basically it could be warm enough to rain, and then it feezes as it falls. Even if it is very cold out. Everything gets coated with ice then...

I remember when I was in Michigan it would snow, rain, then go below zero, so everything was coated with ice. From what I am reading here, it does that in Ak too.
