Homer Council on the Arts

There is also the local UAA campus which has a lot going on in the winter, the museum, the ocean center, community theatre and many of the local businesses participate in local activities for off season. In the summer everyone is just to darn busy so they celebrate their community in the winter. Borstc37 gave you a good starting point for meeting up with people. Check out Three Sisters Bakery they are always packed year round, great place to meet people and only steps from the beach.
Sounds like a nice place

Are people that live in Homer called Homeroids?

I thought that is what visitors to Homer got if they stayed too long.

OP, you are crazy to be going either place if you are single, but I lived in Seward (a summer) and visited Homer, and I met more people and more nice people in Homer in a long weekend than in Seward a whole summer.

If you feel you must do it, do it! I will never regret living in Alaska for 3 years. I wish I could go back (maybe someday).

If you ever get an urge to go back to school, UAA (in Anchorage) is a great place; I was there in my early 30s as a student, and I made some good friends.

Good luck to you!

Hahaa! Yeah I know. It's kind of silly to limit my opportunities to meet someone since I'm single, but, I don't know if I'll every get a chance to live in one of these towns again.
I've made my mind up and will be going to Homer.
Thanks for everyone's advice, but please feel free to keep posting here if you have anything to add.

Feel free to send me a message if and when you arrive. I might be able to introduce you to some musicians.
