boat jobs in bristol bay?
Hey, My friend works up in bristol bay for their three week salmon fishing season and said the best way to get a job is have the cannery post your info so boat captains can see it. Is there anyone who needs a crewmember or is there a better way to find a job. I worked in a cannery in petersberg two summers ago and have knowledge of commercial fishing. Any feedback would be great.
Thanks
Andrew Wells

Just FYI.....the Bristol Bay season is not 3 weeks long.
Anyone who has only worked it for three weeks is either a quitter or got fired. Plan for 5-6 weeks.
Plan to help your skipper get the boat ready for the season and to clean up the boat and put it away at the end of the season. That's part of what you're getting paid for.

Sounds like a heck of a deal, maybe I will put in for something exciting like that... I guess my ad will be something like this.
Crusty old Salt looking for job on fishing boat.
Can speak "Salt Talk" fluently.
Knows which end of boat is front.
Able to intimidate machinery with hammer to last out season before expiring.
Knows all knots necessary to hold "older" boats together.
Been at sea longer than most boats floating today.
Can tell of approaching bad weather in joints a week before it hits.
Note: Large amounts of coffee on board will be required.
Yeah, that should be good to post on the docks....

And do your best to get a job as a busser in one of the resorts. That's where you'll make the most money.
