Default Katrina versus Alaska

Insurance for your car or home is so ridiculous in Mississippi since Hurricane Katrina. It just is NOT affordable. I was wondering since we plan a moved to the Wasilla area in May, how much the average cost for insurance (car & home) is? I know its boring to talk about insurance. I was just wanting something else to look forward too.
I have learned so much here on Alaska I can close my eyes and image my family and I there already. We cant wait!

I have 2 vehicles insured. About 300 for 6 months. My home is just over 800 a year.

I'm paying $635/year to insure two vehicles. I'm also paying $1045/year for home insurance ($540 of which is earthquake insurance).
