Hi!

I have a couple of nice slides taken at Ankau Creek in Yakutat during the war by my mom's first husband. I can email them to anyone who's interested:

Heck ya! My great Uncle was up here during his tour. Helped build the AlCan. He was in awe when they drove it up to visit us in the early 80's. God rest his soul! He taught me to play cards besides go fish. I should see if anyone has some of his pictures.

Does anyone know how the 40,000 building the Alaska Highway during the war got up there?
I THINK the USA military had their own train up to Dawson Creek, BC.
I have one photo from NAR (Northern Alberta Railways) but need to know the model of locomotive used.
I'm working on a scale model HO of a troop train but have found very few photos to work with.

They moved from several directions. They had a group go by boats to Seward, then rail to Fairbanks then down to Delta and they started building from there. Some went by boat to Skagway and then up on the White Pass & Yukon railroad to Whitehorse. And then there was a group that started from Dawson Creek.
