I'll be in Alaska (Seward area) for about five months beginning May. I know there's a regional cell company that many Alaskans subscribe to, but I don't want to sign on for a long term contract if I'm only there a few months. I can stop my service in the lower 48 until I return...just looking for temporary service while in Alaska.

Does T Mobile have service in Alaska? (There coverage map is confusing!)

Are there no contract options available in Alaska?

Thanks for any information!

If I remember correctly, my Verizon and ATT phones worked in Seward when we where there on vacation... I don't have T-MOBILE, so I can't answer that one. Data was never great in AK, but this was a couple of years ago. There have been some articles that 3G/4G/LTE is being deployed as I type this, with some service available now. So you could go and find out all is good. Unless someone that lives or has recently been to Seward with a T-MOBILE, Verizon, or ATT phone chimes in.

ATT and Verizon both have no contract phones. In fact, ATT has been pushing their new month to month phones.

T-Mobile does not directly have service here in Alaska, but I'm pretty sure they have a network sharing agreement with one of the companies that do. I think it's AT&T...

Just use the cell phone you have while you're there. Otherwise stop at WalMart and get a pay-as-go phone.
