Yes, the something happened a few years ago (maybe around 10 years ago?).

If the race starts around here on 3 March, I will have to take a day off from work to take pictures. I have never taken photos of the Iditarod, just the Yukon Quest and other local races around Fairbanks and North Pole.

I live in McGrath. If the race starts in FBX, there will be some big dollar losses to our local store, restaurant, bar's and, B and B. I wasn't living here the last time this happened, but I know there will be an impact.

That's probably true. But things like that happen every now and then. Some years there is not enough snow on the trail near Anchorage, and not cold enough for creeks and other water to freeze.
